How Did All of This Southern Sass Start, Anyway?
Of all things, it started in 2003 on the tropical paradise island of Maui,
Hawaii. My husband and I were taking a long overdue and much needed
holiday from our very busy lives of work and more work, and we were playing
around with ideas for me to start a new business. I've had the desire to own
my own business for many years, and in 2002 I really began to get serious
about exploring the opportunities. I decided that since my passion was
cooking and all things food, it was time to focus on opportunities in this area.
Well, the warm tropical breezes can sure help you clear your mind and think
creatively, and before I knew it I had narrowed down the business to creating
a cookbook, developing some healthy snack items, and focusing on my
Southern roots as the fun theme for the business.
So, walking down the beach one afternoon, I stopped dead in my tracks,
looked at my husband and said "I've got it! Southern Sass!" He laughed and
said, "That's it! That is so you!" From that moment on, the business began
to come together.
In October 2004 I felt it was time to go full-time into creating my business.
So, I resigned from my position as the Director of the Cocoa Beach Area
Convention and Visitors Bureau and began to pursue my dream. And here I
am with a business and a dream coming true!
I am still developing lots of ideas, creating in my kitchen (The Laboratory, as
we call it) and looking forward to bringing you the best products and tasty
nutritional food items that will warm your heart and soul.
Thank you for taking this journey with me, and I hope you have as much fun
exploring the website, using the products and cooking the recipes from The
Southern Sass Cookbook, It's All in the Sass! as I am having creating them.
I hope Southern Sass brings a smile to your face, a giggle to your heart, and
a passion for cooking and creating wonderful for you and your loved ones.
And remember, DREAM BIG DREAMS!
